SH. JAGMOHAN SHARMA RECEIVED AN AWARD OF HONOUR FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE SOCIAL WELFATE WORKS: HIS LATEST BOOK TITLED “LORD SHIVA & DEOT SIDH BABA BALAK NATH” IS EXPECTED TO BE PUBLISHED BY NOVEMBER END ’21

 

SH. JAGMOHAN SHARMA RECEIVED AN AWARD OF HONOUR FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE SOCIAL WELFARE WORKS AT DIFFERENT PLATFORMS

AN OCTOGENARIAN’S PASSION FOR WRITING

Mr. Jag Mohan Sharma, an octogenarian has a passion for writing books on spiritual, religious, moral n ethical aspects of life.

During a candid conversation with our Editor Dr. Shefalika, Mr. Sharma said that allurement for dabbling in poetry n prose goes back to the year 1956 when as a young lad of 16 yes, he had joined as a first-year student at Govt College, Dharamshala(Himachal Pradesh) for a graduation course.

Inspired by his role model eldest brother Prof. P. N. Sharma, a versatile genius, a Poet par excellence, and a renowned Author, he used to contribute poems and articles to the College Magazine ‘Bhagsu’, besides being a Student Editor (English Section) for a year.

After graduation, Mr. Sharma did M. A. (Political Science) from Doaba College, Jalandhar City in 1963. On being asked by our Editor about his service career graph, Mr. Sharma mentioned that he had served the Central Govt for 33 yrs as an Officer and retired as Deputy Secretary in 1998.

He further added that even while in service and after retirement, he had continued his habit of writing and also a collection of Urdu couplets in Devnagari script.

Asked about his first publication, Mr. Sharma said that his first book in English titled The Divine Boons was published in 2001 and it was followed by another book titled Parvaaz, after two years.

He further revealed that in the intervening period till date, he has authored ten books. The cover of his books are given below :

           

On further probing by Dr. Shefalika about Mr. Sharma’s future plans, he revealed that his latest book titled “LORD SHIVA & DEOT SIDH BABA BALAK NATH” is expected to be published by November end ’21.

Three more manuscripts are being given final touches. Undaunted by his age ( 82 yrs), Mr Sharma is full of zeal and enthusiasm about his passion for writing books. When broached about his other pastimes, Mr. Sharma mentioned that he is a social activist and an environmentalist.

To the pleasant surprise of our Editor, Mr. Sharma mentioned services rendered/being rendered to the following Social & Charitable Organizations:

1. Former founding General Secretary, Varisht Nagrik Sewa Manch.

2. Former General Secretary, Suraksha & Kalyan Sanstha.

3. Former Executive Committee Member, Residents Welfare Association.

4. Former President, Varisht Nagrik Sewa Manch.

5. Patron, Suraksha & Kalyan Sanstha.

6. Mentor, Young In Spirits Senior Citizens Club.

7. Executive Member & Patron of CEV Charitable Institution.

8. Founder, Nadaan Prinday, a group for Social gatherings.

9. Member Senior Citizens Apex Committee, Faridabad.

Eight organizations are based in Faridabad(Haryana) & CEV Charitable Institution is a national level organization of repute. During a conversation with Mr. Sharma, our Editor noticed that he is a down-to-earth person, with a multi-faceted amicable personality and is like a beacon of light among his peers.

He is a role model and an iconic figure for elderly persons and youths alike. When our Editor pleaded with Mr. Sharma to give in a nutshell the gist of books written by him, he said “Have complete faith in God, there is one God whose dictates run supreme, destiny is pre-destined, every person has a spark of divinity within, lucky ones get a gift of prayer from God for the recitation of His Naam, live in the present, be truthful, help the needy, she’d ego, be benevolent, be compassionate, render selfless service”.

An AWARD OF HONOUR is presented by CEV CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS for his outstanding contribution to the social & charitable works being done by him for the benefits of Orphans, Differently Abled Persons & Elder Persons at different platforms.    

     

As a parting shot, Mr. Sharma said ” One is as old as one thinks to be. Be happy and cheerful. “.

Mr. Jag Mohan Sharma s/O Late Sh Mehar Chand Sharma was born at Jalandhar City on February 1, 1940. After passing Matriculation front L. R. Doaba High School, Jalandhar in 1956, he graduated from Govt College, Dharamshala(Himachal Pradesh). He did Post-graduation in Political Science from Doaba College, Jalandhar in 1963. In 1964, he joined the Central Govt service as an Officer n retired from Govt Service in 1998 as Deputy Secretary. He has had a passion for writing from college days and from 2001 till this year, he has authored nine books.

Besides writing, Mr. Sharma is an active social worker and an environmentalist. He has also trained in mountaineering, a former hockey player n an athlete. He is fond of long morning/evening walks, physical exercises, and yoga. As an octogenarian, he is fit like a fiddle n he attributes all this to God’s benign grace and kindness.
