CEV TO HOLD SEMINAR ON ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP, CPD COMPLIANCE AND BANK EMPANELMENT POLICIES
2 CPD POINTS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS
New initiative aims to promote continuous professional learning, ethical practice and greater engagement among engineers and valuers
New Delhi, September 11, 2026: The Council of Engineers & Valuers (CEV Group) is organising an online professional seminar on “Active Membership – Meaning & Policies” on 12 September 2026 from 5:00 PM onwards through the Zoom platform.
The seminar is expected to focus on the organisation’s policies relating to Active Membership, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and the issuance of Annexure VIII / Annexure J and other membership-related documents required for bank and financial-institution empanelment.
According to the organisation’s stated policy framework, Active Membership is not intended to be merely the holding of a membership certificate. It represents continuing professional association, meaningful participation, professional learning and engagement with the organisation.
Minimum 12 CPD Points Every Financial Year
A major focus of the seminar will be the CPD compliance requirement. CEV has prescribed a minimum of 12 CPD Score Points per financial year for Active Membership Compliance. Eligible activities may include seminars, conferences, webinars, workshops, training programmes, professional presentations, knowledge-sharing activities and recognised digital learning activities.
The organisation has also outlined a CPD reporting mechanism under which professional activities may earn points according to the applicable framework. These include one CPD point per hour for seminars and training programmes, one point per professional knowledge article/post, and one point for every five eligible social-media/digital knowledge activities.
Digital Learning Gets Greater Importance
The CEV policy places particular emphasis on digital professional education. Members are encouraged to use official digital platforms for professional knowledge gain, awareness of laws and regulations, case-law updates, valuation methodologies, banking developments and knowledge sharing.
The policy also provides for recognition of eligible professional engagement on digital platforms. For example, one CPD point may be awarded for every five eligible professional posts, comments or shares, subject to verification and applicable rules.
Professional videos on the official CEV Group YouTube channel may also qualify for CPD consideration where the specified conditions are satisfied, including watching the relevant professional video for more than 10 minutes and making a meaningful professional comment mentioning the participant’s name.
Active Membership and Bank Empanelment
For engineers and valuers seeking empanelment with banks and financial institutions, maintaining compliance throughout the year can be particularly important. The organisation’s policy states that, while processing requests for Annexure VIII, Annexure J, Active Membership confirmation and other membership-related documents, various factors may be considered, including current membership, renewal, CPD compliance, payment of dues, professional conduct, participation and responsiveness to official communications.
The policy further clarifies that previous or existing membership does not automatically create an unconditional entitlement to Annexure VIII / Annexure J. Current membership and compliance status may be verified before such documents are issued.
From Passive Membership to Professional Engagement
The CEV initiative seeks to encourage members to view professional membership as a continuing responsibility involving learning, participation, ethics, compliance, teamwork and knowledge sharing. Members are expected to maintain professional dignity, follow ethical standards, remain responsive to organisational communications and contribute constructively to professional activities.
The organisation’s message is particularly relevant to professionals who find it difficult to attend physical programmes because of site visits, valuation assignments, report preparation, court matters, banking assignments and other professional commitments. Digital learning is promoted as a practical means of maintaining continuous professional development.
A Message for Engineers and Valuers
The forthcoming seminar is therefore positioned not merely as a discussion on membership formalities, but as an initiative to build a culture of continuous professional education and responsible professional participation.
The central message may be summed up as:
“Active Membership is not only about paying membership fees; it represents a continuing commitment towards professional knowledge, CPD compliance, ethical conduct, organisational participation and professional development.”
