The Department of Civil Engineering, Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, has developed an innovative project titled “Earthquake Resistant Structures”. The project demonstrates advanced techniques used to reduce the impact of earthquakes on buildings and improve structural safety during seismic activities.
The model mainly focuses on the use of dampers and magnetic foundation technology. Dampers are used to absorb and reduce vibrations produced during earthquakes, helping to minimize structural damage. The magnetic foundation concept helps in reducing direct ground impact on the structure by providing better stability and shock resistance. The project explains how modern engineering methods can make buildings safer and more durable in earthquake-prone areas.
The project was successfully prepared by students Nitish, Jatin, Chitanshu, Pratibha, Agam, Isha, and Yashika under the mentorship of Amit Khanna. Principal Dr. Jagroop Singh and Head of Department Dr. Rajeev Bhatia appreciated their technical knowledge, creativity, and teamwork.
The project reflects the institution’s commitment to practical learning, innovation, and skill-based technical education.
