JCM HELD TO DISCUSS COURSE OF ACTION TO REINSTATE SLUDGE DISPOSAL AT THE EARLIEST

JALANDHAR, MAY 17-( CEV TECHNO NEWS): Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today asked officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) to examine the technical portion of tests reports of sludge samples taken by the laboratories from Common Effluent Treatment Plant being run by Punjab Effluent Treatment Society (PETS) situated at leather complex, Jalandhar.

Chairing a meeting of the Joint Committee constituted by Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce, the deputy Commissioner directed the officials of PPCB to submit their report so as to speed up the resumption of sludge disposal at the earliest.

Mr. Thori further stated that after submission of comments from the PPCB, the committee then will take final decision on the next course of action with regards to sludge disposal at the disposal plant.


Notably, the sludge samples were collected by the joint teams from CETP Jalandhar which were processed by the authorized labs and the reports were submitted to PETS, said the DC adding that the PPCB would examine the test reports and its comments would be discussed for further action. He reiterated that the district administration was duty-bound to resolve this matter within the framework laid-down by the state government.
