Smallcases for rich? 3 market veterans curate portfolios for affluent investors

NEW DELHI: Curated theme-based portfolios, in which investors can park their funds according to their conviction, have grown popular on Dalal Street, especially after Smallcase, an upstart, came out with them targeting retail investors.

Usually, these portfolios are created by a team of analysts and have small ticket sizes, enabling mass participation. However,

has launched a similar curated portfolio created by three renowned market veterans for its rich clients.

Sunil Singhania, founder at Abakkus Asset Manager, Rajesh Kothari, founder at AlfAccurate Advisors, and Vikas Khemani, founder at Carnelian Asset Advisors, have created four such portfolios.

  • Abakkus Smart Focused Alpha Strategy: 25 high conviction stocks from top 250 companies
  • Carnelian India Capital Compounder Portfolio: Long only, multi-cap, sector agnostic strategy focusing on capturing India growth story.
  • AAA Emerging Business Opportunities: Businesses which can capitalize on emerging opportunities and can grow fast
  • AAA Digital India: Stocks that will significantly benefit from digitalization opportunities across sectors

“We are now happy to extend this facility by having renowned Sebi-registered investment advisors also curate stock portfolios for our customers. Currently, four portfolios under ‘Masters of the Street’ have been made available on themes they believe would generate long-term wealth,” said Anupam Guha, Head – Private Wealth Management, ICICI Securities.

He added that portfolios are regularly monitored and if any rebalancing is suggested by the investment advisors, the same is notified to the investors who can then choose to implement it digitally.

ICICI Securities said the ticket size for investment will be Rs 5 lakh and more.
