1. Gold starts melting at 1064.43 ° C. It is the conductor of both heat and electricity and does not rust.

2. Gold is the only metal whose color is yellow. The color of some other metals may also be almost yellow, but this is possible only when they are administered with a particular chemical.

3. Gold is a very flexible metal. A very fine wire 8 km long can be made of only 28 grams of gold.

4. Carat is a unit of purity of gold. According to this unit, any item (jewel, coin etc.) which has 99.9% gold content will be considered as 24 carat gold. 18 karats contain 75%, 14 karats contain 58.5% and 10 karat gold contain 41.7% pure gold. The rest of the part is often made of silver or other metals like copper, nickel, iron etc.

5. If the gold produced from the end of the 15th century to today is decorated, then a cube of about 20 meters long, wide and high will be formed. Surprisingly, the fate of crores of humans continued to be controlled by such a small amount of money.

6. Even though a lot of gold has been discovered by humans because of its value, but still 80 percent of the total gold of the earth is in the ground.

7. The largest raw gold piece ever discovered has been discovered in Australia. John Deason and Richard Oates discovered this piece on 5 February 1869 and named it “Welcome Stranger”. Welcome Stranger was just two inches below ground and the weight of gold gained from it was about 71 kg.

8. Gold has been used in India since long. The findings found in Mohenjodaro and Harappa suggest that at that time gold was used for ornaments. Charaka Samhita, written 2300 years ago, describes it as a medicine of gold. The Arthashastra composed by Chanakya describes the measures to identify a gold mine, how to obtain gold from the mine and its remediation and its uses. All this shows that the level of gold art in India was high at that time.

9. India accounts for 2% of the total gold production in the world. Gold is obtained mainly from the mines of Kolar in Mysore, from the state of Sikkim, and from the monsoons and Singhbhum districts of Bihar.

1. सोना 1064.43°C पर पिघलना शुरू कर देता है। यह ताप और बिजली दोनो का सुचालक है और इसे जंग नही लगती।

2. सोना एकलौती धातु है जिसका रंग पीला होता है। कुछ और धातुओं का रंग भी लगभग पीले रंग जैसा हो सकता है, पर यह तब ही संभव है जब उनकी क्रिया किसी विशेष रसायन से कराई जाए।

3. सोना बहुत ही लचीली धातु है। मात्र 28 ग्राम सोने की 8 किलोमीटर लंबी एक बहुत ही बारीक तार बनाई जा सकती है।

4. कैरट सोने की शुद्धता परखने की एक इकाई है। इस इकाई के अनुसार जिस किसी वस्तु (गहना, सिक्के आदि) में सोने की मात्रा 99.9 % हो उसे 24 कैरट सोना माना जाएगा। 18 कैरट वाले में 75 %, 14 कैरट वाले में 58.5 % और 10 कैरट सोने में 41.7 % शुद्ध सोना होता है। बाकी का जो भाग होता है वो अकसर चाँदी या अन्य धातुओ जैसे के ताबें , निक्कल, लोहा आदि का बना होता है।

5. यदि 15वीं सदी के अंत से आज तक उत्पादित सोने को सजाकर रखा जाए तो लगभग 20 मीटर लंबा, चौड़ा तथा ऊँचा घन बन जाएगा। हैरानी की बात तो यह है कि इतनी छोटी मात्रा के पादर्थ द्वारा करोड़ो मनुष्यों के भाग्य का नियंत्रण होता रहा।

6. भले ही बहुत सारा Gold इसके कीमती होने के कारण मनुष्य द्वारा खोज लिया गया है परंतु अभी भी पृथ्वी के कुल सोने का 80 फीसदी हिस्सा जमीन में ही है।

7. अब तक का सबसे बड़ा कच्चे सोने का टुकड़ा आस्ट्रेलीया में खोजा गया है। John Deason और Richard Oates ने 5 फरवरी 1869 को इस टुकड़े को खोजा और इसे “Welcome Stranger” नाम दिया। Welcome Stranger जमीन के मात्र दो इंच नीचे था और इससे प्राप्त सोने का वज़न लगभग 71 किलो था।

8. भारत में सोने का उपयोग बहुत पहले से होता आया है। मोहनजोदड़ो और हड़प्पा में मिले अवषेशों से पता चलता है कि उस समय सोने का उपयोग गहनों के लिए होता था। 2300 वर्ष पहले लिखी गई चरकसंहिता में सोने का औषधि के रूप में वर्णन आया है। चाण्क्य द्वारा रचित अर्थशास्त्र में सोने की खान की पहचान करने के उपाय, खान से सोने को प्राप्त करने तथा उसके सोधन के उपाय और उसके उपयोगों के बारे में बताया गया है। इस सबसे पता चलता है कि उस समय भारत में स्वर्णकला का स्तर उच्च था।

9. भारत में दुनिया के सोने के कुल उत्पादन का 2% प्राप्त होता है । सोना मुख्य रूप से मैसूर के कोलार की खानों से, सिक्किम राज्य से और बिहार के मानसून और सिंहभूम जिले से प्राप्त होता है।

10. क्या आप को पता है आदि काल से लेकर अब तक जितना Gold मनुष्य को प्राप्त हुआ है, वर्तमान समय में उससे कहीं ज्यादा स्टील का उत्पादन मनुष्य एक घंटे में कर लेता है।
