*Rules and regulations for hoarding advertisements in Maharashtra*
In Maharashtra, laws pertaining to commercial hoardings fall under the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation (control of advertisements and hoarding) Rules 2003
These rules clearly state that the maximum permissible size of commercial hoarding within city area can be 40X20 feet
However the municipal commissioner may give permission to install hoardings of 60X20 feet, on top of a building, but only if the building was structurally stable
No hoardings near a road can exceed a height of 40feet, and a minimum distance of 5.feet needs to be maintained beyond the edge of hoardings
Putting up a hoarding that will obstruct the view of historical, archaeological or heritage site, view of sunrise or sunset is not allowd

Shall be aesthetically designed and shall be approved by the Structural Engineer strictly as per the structural plan the architectural designs should be in confirmation with standard specifications
After agreement expiry, new agency will have to submit the certificate from structural engineer about stability and safety of the structure before displaying any advertisements

Advertising hoardings shall be allowed to be erected only if it had been examined from the angle of the structural stability and safety of the building and it’s occupants, and a certificate along with the design calculations to that effect from executive engineer, PWD is produced
*permissible colours of advertisements*
Shall not have any resemblance with colours of traffic signals/symbols and should not obstruct traffic signal
*bottom clearance of the hoarding board*
1) lower bottom of hoarding board shall not be at a height less than 10 feet from the surface of highers point of road along it
2) if hoarding board is sought to be projected on a highway footpath – more than 18 feet
3) no such projection shall be allowed on a public road where there is no footpath
*maximim height of hoarding board*
1) when erected on ground, the maximum height of hoarding shall not be more than 50 feet from the surface of highest point of road along it
2) when erected on terrace of a building the maximum height of hoarding board shall not be more than 50 feet from terrace level including bottom clearance

Same side of road – more than 165 feet
