SWAMITVA YOJANA SCHEME
Swamitva stands for Survey of Villages and Mapping with improved Technology in Village Areas
It’s a Central Sector Scheme aimed at providing an integrated inhabited property ownership solution for rural India
Swamitva Yojana Scheme history
Swamitva Yojana is a scheme launched by the Government of India on National Panchayat Day on 24/04/2020
The aim of this property cards scheme is to validate property legally in an integrated way in rural India
The scheme will enable property owners to download property cards through an SMS link and later get a physical copy of these cards
The yojana will give property holders a legal document of ownership of their houses
Currently, this yojana is present in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Haryana across 763 villages in these states
It is being implemented across the country in a phased manner from 2020 to 2024 with the aim of covering more than 6 lakhs villages in India

Application for Swamitva Yojana
1) Visit the Official Website of the Ministry of Panchayat Raj under the Government of India
2) Click on the New User Registration
3) The Registration Form will appear on the screen
4) Enter the required details such as your address, name, email address, mobile number etc as well as details related to property
5) Make sure the details are correct and click on Submit
6) An acknowledgement will be given by way of an application number

Funding and Monitoring Swamitva Yojana Scheme
1) The Swamitva Yojana Scheme is entirely funded by the Central Government
2) A budget of Rs 79.65 crores was allocated for the pilot phase
3) Additional funds will be provided in stages for nationwide coverage
4) The Panchayati Raj Ministry monitors scheme progress in coordination with the State revenue department
5) Regular field visits, audits and geo-tagged progress photos are used for monitoring on the ground
Technology used in Swamitva Yojana Scheme
1) High-resolution drone mapping is done to demarcate land parcels and boundaries
2) Accurate Geographic Information System (GIS) is created for each village
3) Satellite imagery from ISRO is used for verification and augmentation of maps
4) Online monitoring system tracks progress and land records digitization
Challenges involved in Swamitva Yojana Scheme
1) Undulating terrain and remoteness of certain villages makes drone mapping difficult
2) Lack of basic infrastructure like roads and electricity in parts of rural India
3) Reluctance from certain sections to participate in surveys
4) Complexity in determining ownership in case of family disputes over land
5) Post-mapping field verification and distribution of property cards
