FAMILY TREE CERTIFICATE

A Family Member Certificate is a certification provided to the citizen by the government confirming and testifying that he/she is a member of a recognized family. A Family Tree Certificate, also known as a lineage or genealogy certificate, is an official document issued by the revenue department of your state in India. A Family Tree Certificate serves as documented proof of your family history, outlining generations and relationships between family members.

A Family Tree Certificate contains the details of different generations of a family and the names of family members, children, and grandchildren

Family Tree Certificate eligibility

Any citizen of India can apply for a family tree certificate

Members who can apply for a family tree certificate

1) Head of the family

2) Any related member of the deceased (Husband, wife, daughter, son or mother)

Information required for Family Tree Certificate

The following information to be provided to the revenue department

1) Applicant’s full name

2) Names of other family members who are alive

3) Date of birth of the applicant and all other members

4) Relationship of the applicant with the head of the family who has passed away

5) Occupation of all family members

Documents required for Family Tree Certificate

1) Address proof

2) Birth Certificate

3) Affidavit of family genealogy

4) Death Certificate (if any)

5) Relationship proof of family members

6) Aadhar card of all family members

7) Attested application form by a gazetted officer

8) Copy of the complete application

The process to prepare a Family Tree Certificate

1) Prepare the family tree structure containing the details of all family members

2) Get a stamp paper as recommended by the Tahsildar or sub-division office of the respective area

3) Take the printout of the family tree structure on stamp paper

4) Submit the stamp paper with the required documents and get the sign of the deponent

5) The public notary will verify the documents and get the sign of the deponent

6) The notary public will attest, seal, record, and sign the details in a notary book

7) After getting it notarised, applicants should get the attestation from the revenue department offline or online

The offline process to get an attestation from revenue department

1) Visit the Sub-divisional officer, provide the attestation for the family tree certificate application with the required documents and pay the fees

2) The respective officer or person in charge will check the application and documents

3) The respective officer or person in charge will provide an acknowledgment receipt and forward the application to the concerned revenue inspector

4) The revenue officer will attest to the application and issue the family tree certificate

The online process to get an attestation from the revenue department

1) Visit the official State/UT website (e-District Portal)

2) Register and log into the official website

3) Select the service option, Select Revenue Department, and select the Family Tree Certificate

4) Fill out the attestation for the family tree certificate application form, upload the documents, pay the fees (if any) and submit it

5) The revenue department officers will check the application and issue the family tree certificate
