REJUVENATION OF SHRI GURU RAVIDASS CHOWK, ROAD WORKS IN MODEL HOUSE TO ENHANCE CITY INFRASTRUCTURE

Jalandhar, (03/01/2026):Punjab Horticulture and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Saturday laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs. 30 lakh in the city, reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to strengthening civic infrastructure and improving urban aesthetics.

Accompanied by Mayor Vineet Dhir, Senior AAP leader Nitin Kohli, Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, the Minister said that Shri Guru Ravidass Chowk would undergo a major facelift under a rejuvenation project costing Rs. 21 lakh. Highlighting the religious and spiritual significance of the chowk, he said the intersection holds deep reverence among millions of devotees who pay obeisance to Satguru Ravidass Ji, especially during Parkash Purab celebrations. The comprehensive renovation will include beautification and redesign of the area to provide a visually appealing and serene ambience, while also enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the city.
Mr. Bhagat stated that thousands of devotees visit the site every year, and the rejuvenation project would significantly improve their devotional experience. He directed the concerned officials to ensure that the work is completed within a stipulated timeframe and strictly in accordance with prescribed quality standards, asserting that any compromise on quality would not be tolerated.
In addition, the Minister also laid the foundation stone for another development initiative in the Model House area, where two roads will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 9 lakh. He said the road projects would address on of the major demands of local residents and improve connectivity in the area.
Reiterating the state government’s focus on grassroots development, Mr. Bhagat said such projects reflect the Punjab Government’s resolve to ensure inclusive and sustainable urban growth across the state.
