Question:

In the order of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for the Registration of Valuers, it has been mentioned the category as I for the year 1999 – 2000. Whether I have to renew my name for the year 2000-2001. If so, please let me know the procedures and the necessary fees to be paid.

Opinion:

1. Registration as valuer with the Income Tax Department is for lifetime and there is no need for renewal every year. They may review the performance then and there.

2. The registration CI/53/1999-2000 means that you have been registered as a valuer in the year 1999-2000 and your registration number is 53.

3. Please note that you can practise as a registered valuer throughout the country. The registration is not confined only with state where you have been registered.
