ARCHITECTS ARE AUTHORISED TO SELF CERTIFY THE RESIDENTIAL PLANS UPTO 500 SQ YARDS

The Punjab Government has approved to amend Section 3.14.1 of ‘Punjab Municipal Building Bylaws- 2018’ to allow self-attestation of plans of residential buildings up to 500 square yards within the municipal limits.

This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday. Self-attestation means that the plans should be approved directly by the architect instead of sending them through any officer or employee. However, checks and balances have been introduced in the system to ensure that building bylaws are followed meticulously and the documents uploaded are in accordance with norms, the spokesperson said.

More than 90% of residential buildings in the state are below 500 square yards. Therefore, easing the approval of such types of building plans will bring great relief to the general public.

Therefore, for these to be accepted and adopted in a pleasant manner, it will be a great relief to the common people and Will get rid of unnecessary delays. The purpose of self-verification is to reduce the time taken for approval and to sensitize citizens for more transparency and compliance with building bye-laws.
