PUNE: The under-construction houses under Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Wadgaon Khurd areas will be handed over to the beneficiaries by March 2023.
The review of project works was carried out by a delegation of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials on Thursday.
“Nearly 80% of the project work is complete. The remaining works will be completed soon, and the houses will be allocated to the beneficiaries in around six months,” said Ravindra Binwade, additional commissioner, PMC. As many as 1,108 houses will be available to applicants under this scheme.
According to civic officials, the PMC has been registered as a developer under MahaRERA for the PMAY project. These houses are built for financially weaker sections of society.
These flats were made available under the scheme for buyers in Kharadi, Hadapsar, and Wadgaon. There are over 20,000 applications for these houses under five different projects. These projects have been carried out under the section of ‘affordable housing.’ Of these, most flats in Hadapsar and Kharadi have been handed over to buyers.
Officials said the housing project was exempted from the mandatory budgetary cuts of the PMC. The civic administration has introduced 10% cuts on all major works after a decline in income due to the pandemic.
The PMC conducted an online lottery in October 2020. But some of the buyers, who had got the flats in the lottery, could not buy them due to various reasons. The lottery for unclaimed flats was carried out again.
As per the PMC officials, the civic administration has also planned projects in other civic areas. As many as 2,607 flats will be available for buyers. They will be built in Balewadi, Baner, Dhanori, and Kondhwa (Budruk).
