(My revised opinion)

Question :

I am a degree holder in Electronics and Communication Engineering and also a registered valuer under the Companies Act. I have 20 years of experience in electrical divisions.

I applied to CBDT to become a registered valuer of Plant & Machinery u/s 34 AB.

But my application was rejected stating that I am not a Mechanical or Electrical engineer.

How to get registration?

Opinion :

My revised opinion is as follows :

1. On 04.10.1988, the board through its letter 325 / 272 / 88 – 0T, has issued instructions that Electronics Engineering and Electrical communication engineering can be treated as equivalent to B.E. Electrical engineering. Copy of the letter is attached herewith.

2. You may quote this letter and represent your case before the Chief Commissioner of Income tax and Principal Commissioner of Income Tax. I am sure you will be registered.
