How to Pre-Validate your Bank Account on e-Filing Income Tax portal? For Income Tax Refund
The Income Tax Refunds will only be credited to bank accounts that are pre-validated in the e-filing portal. Only pre-validated accounts can be used in the income-tax return while e-filing.
If your bank is integrated with the e-filing portal, pre-validation can be done directly through Electronic Verification Code (EVC) and net-banking route. Conditions to Pre-Validate Bank Account Before, Pre-Validating your Bank Account make sure that your PAN is linked to Bank account, the mobile number is linked to Bank account, and Name in bank account shall match the name in income-tax records.
There are two ways through which you can Pre-Validate Bank Account to receive Income Tax Refund namely Using the e-Filing Website and Using the Internet Banking facility of your Bank. Pre-Validation using the e-Filing Website You will first have to visit the income tax e-filing portal at www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
Then, Click on the ‘Login’ option and enter your login credentials. Use your PAN as a User ID. Upon logging in successfully, click on ‘Profile Settings’ and choose ‘Pre-validate Your Bank Account’ option. Now, enter your bank account details such as account number, IFSC, bank name, and contact details.
The PAN, name, mobile number, and email address provided with your bank account must match with that of those of your bank account to pre-validate successfully. Hence, it is essential to keep in mind to link or update your PAN with your bank before pre-validating your bank account details under the e-filing portal. Then lastly, Click on the ‘Pre-validate’ button.
Pre-Validation using Internet Banking facility of your Bank If you choose to pre-validate your account by using the Internet Banking facility of your Bank the Log in to the internet banking of your account. Select the income-tax e-filing option. When asked whether to pre-validate this account, select Yes.
There you check the details like your name, Bank Account details, and PAN number. If everything is fine, then click on the tab “Confirm”. The Account No. selected by you will be forwarded as a part of the message to the Department of Income Tax for refund usage.
However, if your account is already validated, then if you login to an e-filing portal and click on Profile > Prevalidate your Bank Account then you will find the status as it is “Validated”.
