JALANDHAR, JULY 11 (CEV TECHNO NEWS):- Jaspreet Singh, a 2014-batch IAS officer, on Monday took charge as the new Deputy Commissioner listing health, education, law & order, green cover, and more responsive governance as his priorities.

Jaspreet Singh, who was earlier Deputy Commissioner Mansa, reached the District Administration Complex in the morning where a guard of honour was accorded. After assuming the charge, the Deputy Commissioner pointed out that projects pertaining to infrastructure, rural development, and increasing area under green cover would also be focused on apprising the masses about new citizen services recently added to the list including passport-related services etc.

 

Stressing that pendency of works in offices will also be resolved within a few days, Jaspreet Singh said that the District Administration in consultation with the line departments would set a timeline for issuance of NOCs as per the policy to process the complete cases for sale deed purpose. The Deputy Commissioner also said that a plan would also be worked out to address the encroachments in the city and rural areas in the larger public interest.




In order to ease out the traffic congestion at local PAP Chowk, the Deputy Commissioner also asked the concerned officials to expedite the process for construction of a flyover towards the Amritsar side from the road leading from BSF Chowk side. The pending issues of construction and other projects will also be taken up with the National Highways Authority of India as the maximum works were in the process already.

Emphasising that the legacy of zero pendency in Sewa Kendras will also be maintained as made earlier, Jaspreet Singh said that number of new services had been included in the existing list at Sewa Kendra.

The services related to passports will also be publicized so that people can avail this facility at respective centers, said the Deputy Commissioner adding that constant monitoring would also be done for ongoing projects so that these could be accomplished well within the stipulated time frame. The schemes sponsored by the Center Government will also be supervised so that proper utilization of funds can be ensured, he added.




A special endeavor will also be rolled out to ensure that the benefit of welfare schemes is reached at the grassroots level by benefitting maximum beneficiaries, said the Deputy Commissioner. To increase the green area in the district, Jaspreet Singh said that the MNREGA workers would also be involved in this novel initiative so as to ensure a clean, green, and pollution-free environment.

 

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Amit Sareen, and other officers of different departments welcomed the Deputy Commissioner on his arrival at the DAC.



Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also held a maiden meeting with the officers of various departments to review the progress of ongoing projects. He directed the officers to accomplish these projects within the stipulated time frame besides holding regular monitoring.
