CBI conducts nationwide raids, searches 100 locations of 11 States in 30 bank fraud cases

NEW DELHI(VAIBHAV BUREAU CHIEF):The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday (March 25, 2021) carried out nationwide searches at 100 locations in separate alleged bank fraud cases of over Rs 3,700 crore.

The complainant banks on whose complaint the central agency launched the special drive include – Indian Overseas Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, IDBI, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and Central Bank of India.

Several incriminating documents and other material/digital evidence have been recovered during the searches carried out by the CBI in 11 states.

The complainant banks on whose complaint the central agency launched the special drive include – Indian Overseas Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, IDBI, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and Central Bank of India.

People familiar with the development said the amounts involved in 30 bank fraud cases range from 20 crore to 1,000 crore.

“These searches are part of a special drive to book fraudsters on the complaints received from different nationalized banks in India. The complainant banks include Indian Overseas Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, IDBI, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and Central Bank of India,” CBI spokesperson R C Joshi said in the press note.

He further added, “The various cities/towns where the searches were conducted include Kanpur, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Noida, Gurugram, Chennai, Vellore, Tirupur, Bengaluru, Guntur, Hyderabad, Bellary, Vadodara, Kolkata, West Godavari, Surat, Mumbai, Bhopal, Nimadi, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Karnal, Jaipur and Sri Ganganagar”.

Several incriminating documents and other material/digital evidence have been recovered during the searches.

“It may be stated that CBI has been receiving a number of complaints from various banks alleging cheating, diversion of funds, and submission of fake/forged documents by different defaulting firms while obtaining loans/credit facilities etc. There have been allegations that such firms have been turning defaulters resulting into the loans becoming Non-Performing Assets (NPAs), thus causing heavy loss to the public sector banks. After scrutiny, the cases are registered by CBI. Thorough investigation is carried out in order to book the culprits, take them to face the law and endeavor to salvage public money,” Joshi added.

बैंक धोखाधड़ीः सीबीआई ने 100 अधिक स्थानों पर तलाशी ली

नई दिल्ली (वैभव ब्यूरो चीफ)-केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो (सीबीआई) ने गुरुवार को पूरे देश में 100 से अधिक स्थानों पर तलाशी ली, जिसमें बैंक धोखाधड़ी के 30 से अधिक मामलों में 3,700 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की राशि के मामले थे।

सीबीआई के प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि भारत में विभिन्न सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों से प्राप्त शिकायतों पर जालसाजों को बुक करने के लिए यह खोज एक विशेष अभियान का हिस्सा है। उन्होंने कहा कि शिकायतकर्ता बैंकों में भारतीय ओवरसीज बैंक, यूनियन बैंक ऑफ इंडिया, बैंक ऑफ बड़ौदा, पंजाब नेशनल बैंक, भारतीय स्टेट बैंक, आईडीबीआई, केनरा बैंक, इंडियन बैंक और सेंट्रल बैंक ऑफ इंडिया शामिल हैं। अधिकारी ने कहा कि एजेंसी ने कानपुर, दिल्ली, गाजियाबाद, मथुरा, नोएडा, गुरुग्राम, चेन्नई, तिरुवरूर, वेल्लोर, तिरुप्पुर, बेंगलुरु, गुंटूर, हैदरबाद, बेल्लारी, वडोदरा, कोलकाता, पश्चिम गोदावरी, सूरत, मुंबई में तलाशी ली। भोपाल, निमाड़ी, तिरुपति, विशाखापत्तनम, अहमदाबाद, राजकोट, करनाल, जयपुर और श्रीगंगानगर। अधिकारी ने कहा कि खोजों के दौरान, विभिन्न विभेदन दस्तावेज और अन्य सामग्री/ डिजिटल सबूत बरामद किए गए हैं।

अधिकारी ने कहा कि एजेंसी को विभिन्न बैंकों से कई तरह की शिकायतें मिली हैं, जिसमें धोखाधड़ी, धन के मोड़, फर्जी या जाली दस्तावेजों को विभिन्न चूक फर्मों द्वारा ऋण या क्रेडिट सुविधाएं प्राप्त करते समय आदि शामिल हैं।

उन्होंने कहा कि आरोप लगाया गया है कि ऐसी फर्में डिफॉल्टरों को चालू कर रही हैं, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप ऋण नॉन-परफॉर्मिग एसेट्स (एनपीए) बन गए हैं, जिससे सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के बैंकों को भारी नुकसान हुआ है।

अधिकारी ने कहा कि जांच के बाद, मामले सीबीआई द्वारा दर्ज किए जाते हैं और अपराधियों को नामजद करने के लिए पूरी जांच की जाती है, उन्हें कानून का सामना करने के लिए ले जाया जाता है और सार्वजनिक धन को उबारने का प्रयास किया जाता है।
